A lawyer specialized in Sports Law (both national and international), he has represented and advised various sports organizations, as well as businesses, agents, and athletes in sports such as soccer, basketball, judo, baseball, gymnastics, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, cycling, triathlon, swimming, among others.
Luis Emmanuel also specializes in representing clients as party counsel in arbitrations (both national and international) related to sports, commerce, and construction;as well as representing them before the Panamanian courts and/or governmental authorities.
He completes his field of expertise by offering legal advice on matters related to the energy sector, infrastructure project development, public contracting, and contentious-administrative jurisdiction.
Currently on the list of arbitrators for the Sports Mediation, Conciliation, and Arbitration Tribunal of Panama (TADPAN), served on the Legal/Judicial Commission of the Panama Olympic Committee (2017-2020), and acted as president of the Independent Electoral Commission for the election of the Board of Directors of the Panama Olympic Committee (term 2020 – 2024).
A graduate of the University of Panama, he also holds master’s degrees in Private Law (University of Panama), Sports Law (European University of Madrid/Real Madrid University School and ISDE; both in Madrid, Spain) and Higher Education Teaching (Latin American University of Foreign Trade).
He is a member of the National Bar Association of Panama, as well as the Mediation and Arbitration Commission of the National Bar Association of Panama, the Central American and Caribbean Arbitration Group, the International Sports Lawyers Association (ISLA), and the Latin American Sports Law Association (ALADDE).
